Cape Jaffa & Mount Benson

Cape Jaffa is a laid‑back seaside village on the southern tip of Lacepede Bay, offering calm swimming beaches, excellent snorkelling and a peaceful coastal atmosphere. It’s a favourite for families and anyone looking to unwind by the water.

The area is well‑known for its thriving marine life, with fishing off the jetty a classic local pastime and the nearby Margaret Brock Reef drawing snorkellers and divers to explore its colourful underwater world. Cape Jaffa Lighthouse

Standing proudly on Kingston’s foreshore, the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse invites visitors into one of South Australia’s most remarkable maritime stories. Originally built in 1872 on the treacherous Margaret Brock Reef, this towering screw‑pile lighthouse guided ships safely through wild Southern Ocean seas before becoming Australia’s first lighthouse ever dismantled and relocated onshore.

Today, the lighthouse operates as a museum where you can wander through the living quarters once occupied by lighthouse keepers and their families, explore historic artefacts, and learn about the daring engineering behind its construction. Guided tours lead you up the impressive helical staircase to the Lantern Room, where the magnificent First Order Dioptric Prismatic lens still shines as a testament to Victorian-era innovation. From the top deck, you’ll enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views across Kingston SE and Lacepede Bay.

Whether you’re fascinated by maritime history, love sweeping coastal vistas, or simply want to experience a truly unique landmark, the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse offers an unforgettable glimpse into life at sea’s edge and the ingenuity that shaped South Australia’s coastal heritage.

The Granites

A striking salute to the wild Southern Ocean, The Granites rise like lone sentinels along Australia’s longest unbroken stretch of beach. Set against 190 kilometres of brilliant white sand, rolling surf and windswept dunes, these smooth, sculpted rock formations showcase the raw, creative power of nature.

Shaped over thousands of years by relentless ocean swells, The Granites have become a beloved icon of this dramatic coastline. Visitors flock here to witness their rugged beauty, soak up the wide‑open views and settle in for some of South Australia’s most spectacular sunsets.

At low tide, these glistening boulders are an easy scramble for kids and curious explorers, offering a rare chance to climb the only known rock formation along this otherwise wild and sandy shoreline. Just a short detour off the highway from Kingston SE, The Granites are an unforgettable stop on any Limestone Coast adventure.
